Reflection: These artifacts "Multimedia Design Project" and "Multimedia Lesson Plan" were created as an assignment for ITEC 7445 Multimedia and Web Design and Development in Education. The lesson was created to display my ability to develop, model, and facilitate the use of online and blended, digital content, and learning networks to support and extend student learning and expand opportunities and choices for professional learning for teachers and administration.
This artifact is a Webquest that challenges students to research various countries, economies and governments of the Middle East. This artifact was developed and modeled using WIX website creation tool software. These artifacts are an excellent example of an online blended lesson that utilizes a variety of digital content and resources. The lesson allows students to choose from a variety of tools including PowerPoint, Word, Prezi, Sway and Publisher. The blended learning lesson enables students to work on the Webquest from home and school. Blended learning in combination with collaborative learning experiences, allows for the means to model and facilitate online learning.
This artifact has been used to model online and collaborative learning for teacher professional learning (PL). The links within the lesson and the lesson plan have been used to model best professional practices in PL sessions for teachers. The links provided within the lesson can help to further develop best practices including online learning, blended learning, digital content and assisted technology.
This artifact has taught me a lot about how to develop, model, and facilitate the use of online and blended learning, digital content and learning networks. If I were to complete this project again, I would have offered more opportunities for students to expand their knowledge. The next time I complete this project I will a collaborative environment for students to work together to in a extended learning network. The assignment did offer students the opportunity to complete the assignment, but it did not offer an opportunity for students to work together and expand their knowledge beyond the learning experience. The next project will allow students to use collaborative tools that allow students to connect in a learning community to expand their knowledge.
This artifact will greatly impact both my school improvement and professional development. This artifact has helped me better understand how online and blended learning will help increase student engagement. The impact of the artifact can be assessed in the area of improved lesson plans, increased student motivation, and improved SLO and EOC assessments.
