Reflection: This artifact "Georgia Educational Technology Conference 2016" demonstrates my continual growth and skills current and emerging technologies. During the fall semester of 2016 I had the opportunity to attend and participate in a poster session at the GAETC conference. My participation in GAETC greatly improved my personal productivity and professional development.
This artifact displays my mastery of Continuous Learning under the Standard of Candidate Professional Growth and Development in several different ways. My participation in GAETC has enhanced my personal and professional growth. During my time at GAETC I was able to participate in several informative sessions that included Minecraft Edu, Spiral, Mentimeter and Google Docs. Through my participation with GAETC, I was able to grow my professional practice by utilizing current technologies and emerging technologies in classroom instruction. Tools such as Spiral allowed me to increase my understanding of online performance and assessment tools.
Along with attending the conference I was to co-present a poster session with my coworker. My poster session "Tech Tools and Apps" presented a variety of Web 2.0 tools that enhance and improve personal and professional productivity. Along with presenting a face-to-face two hour-long professional development poster session, I also created a OneNote Notebook as an additional resource for attendees.
After completing my participation in GAETC I learned a lot and I was able to show growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies. When I attend this conference next year I plan to take better notes so that I can further enhance my productivity and professional practice. Although my experience was positive, I did not fully take advantage of the conference by taking detailed and accurate notes and creating positive professional connections.
The impact of the Georgia Educators Technology Conference can be seen in school improvement and faculty development. The impact of the attendance on the conference can be assessed in increased professional development and improved professional development sessions.
