Reflections
Issues and Trends in Instructional Technology turned out to be a very challenging course. What made this course unique was how it challenged me to rethink what it meant to use instructional technology. The course required me to setting up a Twitter and Feedly account and introduced me to the awesome trans-formative power of the personal learning network or PLN. These powerful tools made it possible to grow and develop as educator without having to leave my computer.
This course also required me write my capstone project Proposal. The capstone represented a much larger undertaking than I had previously anticipated. The capstone represents countless hours of research and development. This project challenged my understanding of project development and allowed me to see how planning and implementation can change what is possible.
The next major challenge in the class was creating a multimedia project on trends in instructional technology. For my project I chose distance learning as my topic. Distance learning is an area of interest to me because it was a major push by school district. The project not only taught me about distance learning but also about video production. The final project consisted of many hours spent video editing the material.
The challenges presented in this class has allowed me to grow in my understanding of instructional technology. The skills learned from this course will translate over to the classroom as I use the latest tools and methods in instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning in my classroom and throughout the school.
