This course, ITEC 7460 Professional Learning and Technology Innovation, has taught me a lot about the knowledge, skill and disposition required to become an instructional technology coach. After reading the Jim Knight text, Instructional Coaching A Partnership Approach to Improving Instruction, I learned a lot about the value of creating a quality coaching experience. Throughout the class I was able to complete assignments that increased my coaching experience such as;
* Group discussions
* Loti Survey
* Early Adopter Questionnaire
* Mystery Blogger
* Coaching Journal
* One-Hour Workshop
The field experiences completed for this class has allowed me the opportunity to increase my skills, knowledge and understanding of emerging instructional technology. Lesson such as the coaching journal, has enabled me to apply my new coaching skills to improve, both my personal and professional practices. Through constant reflection and evaluation, the program has taught me a lot about personal and professional development. The One-Hour Workshop brought together all the important components of a quality coaching experience into one field experience. Using such skills, knowledge and disposition such as authentic learning, peer relationships, reflections and teacher modeling. I was able to succeed and grow as an instructional technology coach.
The knowledge and skill gained after completing this class, will directly benefit the schools I serve. As a Technology Training/ Integration Specialist, I plan to use my new skills to enhance instructional technology through improved coaching practices. By utilizing such skills as authentic listening and peer relationships, I will better server my schools and enhance instructional technology at the schools I serve.
